Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, Garmiani has truly paved his own road. Releasing his EP, Rumble, on Dim Mak records in May of 2013, he truly put himself on the map when his title track reached the Beatport Electronica Top 10 and garnered support from Steve Aoki, Hardwell, Afrojack, Knife Party, Major Lazer, A-Trak, Chuckie, Tommy Trash and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Even with his extremely busy schedule, we got a chance to run some Grade A Q&A with Garmiani!

GA: When you were a kid, what did you think you’d be doing at this age?

G: The exact thing im doing now!

GA: When did you first know that this was your calling? Can you describe that very moment?

G: I don’t think there was a special moment ’cause its always been given. My first favorite toy was a cassette player

1010388_577607002318313_1207744897_n and growing up it was always my dream to do this for a living. This is all I’ve ever done and I’ve been in love with it since day 1.

GA: What wakes you up in the morning?

G: Wood

GA: What is your most accomplished moment?

G: Hmm, tough one. But here’s a big moment not too many know about: In 2008, way before the Garmiani project, i did a remix that stayed #1 on the billboard chart in Chile for 8 weeks, leaving Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” and Black Eyes Peas “I Gotta Feeling” on #2 & #3. “I Gotta Feeling” is the best-selling single of all time on iTunes, but we beat it in Chile. That was pretty big.

GA: What is the one thing you had to do that scared you the most in this journey?

G: In the beginning, not knowing when my next pay check was coming. But I learned pretty quick not to let that get to me. You gotta make sacrifices if you really want this.

GA: What is the most fun you’ve had since following your dream?

10153888_609983279080685_578057928_nG: Touring has been the most fun. From sharing the stage with the likes of Pharrell Williams to going back to back with Steve Aoki and Dimitri Vegas to having my best friends and family with me on adventures around the globe. Priceless!

GA: What is one thing that you wish you could have done over?

G: No regrets.

GA: When you retire, what will be your title?

G: If I retire from making music for a living, I will still make music cuz that’s what I do. Career-wise I’ll definitely stay in the music business ’cause that’s what I love and that’s what I’m good at. I’ll be running my own company/companies whether it be a record label, management, booking agency, publishing or something else. Definitely music related.

GA: Where do you see yourself in 5, 10, 20 years?

G: I see myself having a strong and stable career as an artist. Being my own boss to an even higher degree and control as much as possible. And helping new artists!

GA: Whom or what would you most like to work with?1395427_534572069955140_1160879094_n

G: There are tons of people that I’d like to work with for different reasons, but when I read this question the first name that popped up in my head was R Kelly. That douche is a musical genius.

GA: Is there anything that we should be on the look out for in the near future?

G: My shows. They’re the shit.

GA: At the end of the day, after all the hard work, blood, sweat and neon lights, what makes it all worth it?

G: The hard work, blood, sweat and neon lights.

GA: What’s the average day in the life for you? You wake up and Boom!

G: If I’m not on tour, I wake up and hit the gym, eat, and then get to grinding like there’s no tomorrow. Music production, podcast, edits for my live shows, interviews, mails, paper work, video editing, graphic design… theres always a lot that needs to be done. Grind hard and smart!

GA: Any last words?

G: Never give a fuck about what others think and do what you REALLY wanna do. The more you apply this to your life, the happier you will be.
